Sweden would be great! Or somewhere near the sea or a river or lake or in the mountains. Surprise us 😊. No southern Europe though, that is too hot for us. 2 or 3 weeks. |
Cosy home in charming old village Gasselte. Near Groningen: 'One of the best places to visit in Europe'.
Come and experience the beauty of the Dutch countryside in the province of Drenthe. Our village Gasselte is located in two areas of outstanding natural and cultural beauty: UNESCO Global Geopark De Hondsrug, and National Park Drentsche Aa.
We are a family with two boys aged 9 and 12, three rabbits and a friendly cat. And we love the intervac concept! We answer all invitations, don't hesitate to send us a message.
Our home is a small but cosy detached house with 3 bedrooms, built in 1930, with a big garden (1700 m2). As we bought it in 2019 in a very bad state, we are working hard on the renovation of the house and garden. It's not perfect yet, but we are getting there!
Lay-out of the house:
Downstairs:
- livingroom/snug
- separate kitchen/diner
- small bathroom with bathtub, toilet and sink
- bedroom/study (bed 1.40 x 2.00, with projector + playstation)
- Hallway with Siebren's atelier under the stairs
Upstairs:
- master bedroom (bed 1.60 x 2.00)
- boys' room with two large box beds (beds 1.20 x 2.00)
- bathroom with sink and toilet
In the attic of the large garage, our boys have their own play room. There are also two spare beds located there. The garden offers several places to sit and has a lot of shade in summer. Nature trail De Hamerlanden starts just at the other side of the road.
There is a trampoline and soccer goal in the garden and of course we have lots of toys for children and board games for grown ups. Lots of reading material (also in English and some in German), DVD's and xbox/playstation games.
Please note: small children are welcome, but our house is not toddler proof. Our garden is not entirely enclosed by a fence, they can walk on to the road from the driveway. We no longer have fences at the top/bottom of the stairs, but we might be able to improvise something.
To get a taste of the countryside, check out the northern provinces of the Netherlands from above:

Presentatie tekst voor het gezin
Hi!
We're Reinier (44, art school alumnus, renovating our home), Charissa (45, historian turned communications officer at the University of Groningen), Arend (sporty twelve year old boy) and Siebren (creative eight year old boy) Caron. And we'de love to exchange homes with you!
We love being outdoors, that's why we moved from The Hague to the countryside. Our two very energetic boys now have plenty of space to run around.
Ofcourse we have lots of toys, especially cars, trains, LEGO, bikes and other wheeled vehicles for your children to play with and everything you need for a baby.
We have an 11 year old tomcat who is pretty shy and needs some time before he will approach you. He usually avoids small children, but has never lashed out to anyone, even children pulling his tail. In 2020, we adopted three small rabbits. The oldest, Morrie, is a bit shy, but loves you if you give her dandelion leaves. The two youngest, Speedy and Turbo, like to cuddle. We hope you will take care of them. We will of course care for your pets, but you can not take your pet to our house.
