Bright and spacious with high ceilings and wooden beams, giving it a typical Menorcan feel. The spacious balcony has incredible views of the peninsula as it overlooks the bay and gardens and is a stunning place to sit and soak up the peace and tranquillity at any time of the day. Ceiling fans create a cooling breeze for the warmer summer months while shutters on all the windows create a cosy ambience off season. Seating in the lounge area is perfect for morning coffee, watching TV or curling up with a good book, as it has stunning uninterrupted views to the headland of Punta Grossa on the opposite side of the bay. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering with electric oven, microwave and a washing machine. Arenal d’en Castell has become one of those places that instantly puts me in a slower, happier rhythm. The bay is the first thing that wins you over — a perfect curve of soft sand and unbelievably clear water that always seems a shade of turquoise you didn’t know existed. It’s shallow for quite a long way out, so you see families paddling, people floating around with a book, and kids building sandcastles without anyone feeling rushed or crowded.
What I love most is how easy everything feels. You can wander down to the beach in the morning, grab a coffee from one of the little cafés overlooking the water, and just watch the day wake up. In the evenings, the restaurants along the front have that relaxed, holiday hum — nothing fancy, just good food, friendly people, and the sound of the sea in the background.
The area around the bay is peaceful, with pine trees and coastal paths that make for lovely walks when you want a break from the sun. It’s the kind of place where you can genuinely switch off, but still have shops, restaurants, and everything you need within a short stroll. There are numerous restaurants to choose from to suit all tastes and budgets, a few low keys bars with live music some evenings and pool tables, a few supermarkets to choose from as well as a decent bus service in the summer months.
Arenal d’en Castell has become a place where I can genuinely switch off, breathe a bit deeper, and enjoy the simple things — sunshine, good food, and that incredible turquoise water. It’s a spot I’m always happy to come back to, and one I love sharing with others.
It’s a brilliant spot for families, couples, or anyone who wants a calm, beautiful base to explore Menorca. But honestly, many days you’ll find you don’t want to explore at all — the beach is that inviting.

About Our Family
We are a family of 4, myself Elaine 55, my husband Adrian 50 and our two amazing sons, Alex 21 and Benjamin 18 and our gorgeous teddy bear of a dog called Loki who is 10 years old. I run my own floristry business and love the creativity and working with nature. Adrian is a teacher in a special needs school and has infinite patience and is great fun. Alex is a nearly fully qualified boat builder and often works overseas building super yachts and race yachts. Benjamin is about to embark on an open university degree in Psychology and is an assistant instructor in kickboxing.
We live in the beautiful New Forest in the south of England and consider ourselves extremely lucky to live in such a place with the choice of the forest, one of the UK's national parks, or the sea 5 minutes either side of us. We are a close family and enjoy playing board games, cooking together and also going out on our paddleboards, bikes and small boat.
The home we are exchanging is our stunning apartment on the tranquil Baleriac island of Menorca
We first visited Menorca on a family holiday in the summer of 2021. Friends and family had recommended it highly over the years so that was a great start, coupled with short flight times of around 2 hours from England or even less from mainland Europe, we were off!
After spending many years working around the world and living out of a suitcase, I'm not easily impressed but I was unprepared for the vibrancy and beauty of the island. It quickly become one of our family favourites and we felt immediately relaxed. It is lower key than neighbouring Majora but has so much to offer, from its outstanding coastline and beaches (did you know it has more sandy beaches than the rest of the Balearic Islands put together), ample opportunities for peace and quiet, unparalleled swimming and diving in the crystal clear waters, enchanting villages and towns and superb shopping opportunities. We were entranced! So much so, that just four short months after our visit we were, and still are, the proud owners of this stunning property with the most spectacular views, which is furnished with considerable thought and effort to reflect the peace and character of the island.
We named our property “Menorcan Escapes” for its superb location because it is somewhere you can unwind and escape everyday life for a while. We offer excellent quality self catering accommodation in an ideal location, being on the edge of the village, yet only a five minute walk to the centre. We have created a haven of peace and relaxation; a place to kick back and unwind. We hope you love it as much as we do
Please note that this is a non smoking property.
Lifestyle
We love exploring new cultures, love history and finding out about the country we are visiting. Overly touristic places do not appeal so much, somewhere less discovered. We enjoy local cuisine and cooking, outdoor activities and fun local off the beaten track things for example, we did a scavenger hunt in San Francisco and sailed a catamaran around the bay, did an escape room in Jersey in the old military hospital, built a sandcastle with a professional instructor in Florida, learnt (or tried to!) surf in Ireland ... so diverse tastes but definitely enjoy immersing ourselves with the locals.
