Sunny, spacious and quiet flat near Schönbrunn
We live in a very bright 150 m2 flat under the roof with 5 rooms and a lovely 20m2 west-terrace, where you can enjoy the sunset as well as a good glass of (Austrian) wine, take a rest or play darts. The flat is a combination of two flats in two different houses, but nearly on the same niveau.
It's a place near the castle of Schönbrunn, called "Old-Penzing" with less traffic and not far from the next underground station "U4 - Braunschweiggasse" (7 minutes walk) and the S-Bahn Station "Penzing" (6 minutes walk). So you can easily reach the "city" of Vienna. At the S-Bahn Station "Penzing" is also a "railanddrive location" here, which is a good option (for us too) for renting a car.
If you want to go to places outside of Vienna, f.e. Gumpoldskirchen, Wachau, Wienerwald, Semmering, Rax, Schneeberg, Hohe Wand, Neusiedlersee, Baden ... for hiking, mountain-climbing, bathing in lakes or traditional bathes, it is no problem with public transport from "Penzing" or from the railway-main-station "Wien-Meidling", which can be reached within 30 minutes.
We have 5 bicycles for you (24´´, 26´´, 1 MTB 29´´, 2 adults). You can use them to ride in the city or in the "Wiener Wald", the bicycle-routes inside Vienna are getting more and more comfortable and safe. If you want to go further away, it is mostly possible to take the bikes with you in the train. It is also easy to get around the city with the Vienna City Bikes (a simple rental system).
The public transport system is extremely good and very cheap inside Vienna (17,10 Euro for one week, 2024). Salzburg can be reached by train from "Penzing" within 2,5 hours, Linz within 1,5 hours.
The next two supermarkets are 300 meters away. A hall for playing tennis and badminton and for bowling is 600 meters away. The little "village" Hietzing with a great variety of shops including the coffee-shop Dommayer (where Johann Strauß played his music) is about 7 minutes walk.

About the neighborhood
The flat is situated in a quiet street in the west of Vienna. 2 minutes to the next bus-station, 7 minutes to walk to the next underground (U4) and 6 minutes to the next railway-station "Penzing" to get in the west of Vienna (Wiener Wald, St.Pölten, Wachau, Linz, Salzburg ...).
It takes you 7 minutes by walk to the "village" Hietzing with the famous Cafe Dommayer, where Johann Strauß played his music, where there are many different shops and also some restaurants as well as the entrance to the park of Schönbrunn and the Zoo.
With the car it is easy to find the way out of Vienna, if you are going to the west or south.
The next two supermarkets are 3 minutes away, a hall to play Badminton or Tennis 7 Minutes to walk, the Ottakringer Bad is a public swimming-pool with a fine view over Vienna, 7 bus-stations away.

L'appartement est très agréable et situé à quelques pas de Schönbrunn. Il est confortable et spacieux. Le centre ville de Vienne est très facilement accessible en métro.
Excellent échange. La communication avec Beate et Manfred était cordiale, l'accueil très sympathique. L'appartement est agréable, avec une belle terrasse pour manger ou se reposer. Les transports sont à proximité pour se déplacer dans tout Vienne.
Manfred et Beate sont extrêmement accueillants, attentifs et chaleureux. L'appartement était préparé pour nous avec soin, leurs enfants plus âgés avaient préparé l'arrivée de nos enfants en tenant compte de la description de notre famille. C'était très sympathique de leur part et nous avons tous les 4 beaucoup apprécié.

Hello. This is Manfred and Beate with their children Antonia (25) and Sebastian (22), both students.
One of our passions is music, especially singing. Both Antonia and Sebastian are singing in choirs and ensembles, Beate is singing in a choir as well, but she is also leading three children-choirs, Manfred is teaching choir-conducting and also works as a composer for choirs, presenter and actor.
We love nature and being outside for skiing and skating in winter, hiking, swimming and biking in summer. We also play Badminton in a hall near our flat, like to play board-games and also mini-pingpong in our flat and Darts on the terrace.
We really love to make intervac-exchanges and enjoy with great respect the way of living, as well as the apartment or house of our Intervac partners.
We make home-exchanges since 2015, in the last years mostly just the two of us, but now and then visited by our children:
Copenhagen, Stockholm, Bretagne (3 times), the Loire-Valley, the Normandie, Alkmaar, Nijmegen, Brugge, London, Axminster. And we love it.
But we also spend time in Carinthia (in the south of Austria) and in Vorarlberg (in the west of Austria) where our parents are living.
