House in Hayestown, Navan, Ireland

Our house is located in Hayestown, 8km east of the town of Navan (population 37,000) in County Meath and 50km northeast of Dublin. It is in a very scenic rural setting, with lots of green fields around. We feel that it offers a perfect combination of peaceful setting and proximity to towns and cities.
The house is a one storey bungalow containing a hallway, living room, kitchen/dining room, sun room, study/office, master bedroom with a double bed and ensuite bathroom, two children's bedrooms with single beds and a guest bedroom with a double bed. A children's cot and an additional single bed are available if necessary. The house has lots of windows so it feels bright.
There are lawns at the front and back and a little field of 3,500m2. There are lots of trees and lovely views from the house over rolling fields.

Neighborhood

About the neighborhood

County Meath is known as Ireland’s Heritage Capital, it was once the seat of the High Kings of Ireland. Some of the most important historic sites and monuments are located within County Meath and virtually every important aspect of Irish history from prehistoric times is associated with the county.

Based across the counties of Meath and Louth, the Boyne Valley is an enchanting region brimming with historical significance, natural beauty, and a captivating heritage. Steeped in myth and legend, this area offers an array of free activities for visitors to immerse themselves in the magic of its surroundings. Here is a link to the top 10 things to do for free in the Boyne Valley. https://www.discoverboynevalley.ie/our-top-ten-things-do-free-boyne-valley-2023

Newgrange (c 3,200 B.C.) is the best-known monument of the World Heritage Site of Bru na Boinne, predating the ancient pyramids by 400 years and Stonehenge by 1000 years. It is located 10km from our house. See www.newgrange.com.

The site of the Battle of the Boyne is 15km away. See www.battleoftheboyne.ie. The Battle of the Boyne between King William III and his father-in-law, King James II, was fought on 1 July 1690 (11 July according to our modern calendar). Both kings commanded their armies in person, 36,000 on the Williamite side and 25,000 on the Jacobite side - the largest number of troops ever deployed on an Irish battlefield. At stake were the British throne, French dominance in Europe and power in Ireland. The Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre is located 15km from our house in the recently restored 18th century Oldbridge House, which is on the battlesite. There is free access to the battlesite, parklands and the formal gardens.

The River Boyne flows within 2km of our house and offers the opportunity to fish, canoe, etc. One can also cycle, walk or run along the river bank.

Emerald Park https://emeraldpark.ie/ is a theme park and zoo only 20km from our house. it has Europe's largest wooden rollercoaster and has plenty to keep a family entertained.

The Hill of Tara is 15km away http://www.discoverboynevalley.ie/boyne-valley-drive/heritage-sites/hill-tara. It is important as the traditional inauguration site of the ancient High Kings of Ireland.

Balrath Woods is fifteen minutes drive and is lovely for walks and has play areas for children. See www.balrathwoods.com/?page_id=37

Our neighbours are very friendly, there is lots of space around the house to enjoy and for children to play.

The town of Navan (population 37,000) is 8km from our house and has shopping, theatre, cinema and many other attractions.
Drogheda (population 41,000) is 20km away. The beach at Bettystown is half an hour's drive away.

Central Dublin is only 45 minutes drive away.
