House in Stockholm Gamla Enskede, Sweden
We have a house in Stockholm, located in Gamla Enskede, one of the city’s most idyllic and historically interesting districts, often described as a “small town within the big city.” It is Sweden’s first municipal garden city, established in 1908, and offers a charming environment with winding streets, lush gardens, and well-preserved houses from the early 1900s.
The metro is just a five-minute walk from our house and takes you to Stockholm city center in about 20 minutes. A bakery, a small grocery shop, and several cozy restaurants are located only 300 meters away.

Neighborhood
About the neighborhood
Gamla Enskede is one of Stockholm’s oldest and most charming garden city_topics, located just a few minutes from the city center. The area is known for its winding streets, characteristic early 20th-century villas, lush gardens, and a calm atmosphere that contrasts with the vibrant city life.
Here is a guide to what tourists can enjoy in the local area:
Charm and Atmosphere
Historic Garden City: Walking through the streets of Gamla Enskede (near Enskedevägen/Margaretaparken) feels like stepping back in time. The area is a classic idyll with villas from the early 1900s.
Margaretaparken: A central green oasis in the heart of the neighborhood, perfect for relaxing or taking a walk.
Antiques: Enskede Antik (open Saturdays) offers furniture and interior pieces with history and character.
Restaurants and Cafés
Gamla Enskede has developed into a small culinary destination:
Gamla Enskede Matbod: A popular and cozy neighborhood restaurant next to Triangelparken, focusing on high-quality ingredients and French cooking techniques.
Robin Delselius Bakery: Located in the old Konsum building and well known for its artisan bread and pastries.
Gamla Enskede Brewery: A local brewery with a relaxed atmosphere and its own craft beers.
Attractions Nearby
Skogskyrkogården: A UNESCO World Heritage site located right next to Gamla Enskede. It is a peaceful and impressive place to visit, known for its architecture and beautiful natural surroundings.
Globen / Avicii Arena & Skyview: Just a short walk or metro ride away, where you can ride up to the top of the arena for panoramic views of Stockholm (Skyview) or visit the nearby shopping mall.
Practical Information
Transport: The area is easy to reach via the metro green line (southbound direction). Stations such as Sockenplan or Sandsborg are nearby.
Location: Although it feels like a small town of its own, the area is close to Johanneshov and Kärrtorp, making it an excellent base for exploring southern Stockholm.
Gamla Enskede is the perfect destination for visitors who want to experience “the other Stockholm” – cozy, historic, and close to nature.
Nearest Airport: Stockholm-Arlanda

We are a family consisting of Kenneth, Sarah, and Reza (20 years old). We also have three small Bichon Frisé dogs that are hypoallergenic and do not shed.
In the early 2000s, we completed six very successful and wonderful home exchanges through Intervac. In 2008, we bought a motorhome and traveled around Europe, and in 2016 we bought a larger motorhome which we used to spend our summers in Southern Europe together with our dogs – it was a truly wonderful time.
We have now decided to sell the motorhome to focus on home exchanges again, something we really enjoy. Previously, we sometimes found it difficult to access city centers with a motorhome, so we are now mainly looking for exchanges in small to medium-sized towns, especially in Italy and France.
Since we travel with our three dogs, we need to bring our own car. We are flexible and open to both simultaneous and non-simultaneous exchanges. Our home can be available during the period June 22 to July 26 this summer.
We take great care of other people’s homes with respect and responsibility and look forward to new pleasant exchanges and experiences.
