Carpinteria (Santa Barbara), California USA

Our home is in a very nice development called the Villas of Carpinteria. It's off the street, private and very quiet, in a beautifully landscaped setting. We have 1300 sq. ft. of living space with two bedrooms, two baths, large vaulted ceilings, modern kitchen, a garden area with charcoal barbeque, and attached garage. Each bedroom has a private bath, and a queen-size bed, so we can comfortably sleep four. We also have some baby equipment. We have washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, two flat-screen t.v's. and wifi.

Our first home exchange was in 1981 when we had two small children. Since then we've done several exchanges through Intervac and several through the University. We consider home exchanges to be the richest, most rewarding type of travel and have only had positive experiences. We look forward to our next adventure.

Onze buurt

Carpinteria is a small beach town, reminiscent of California beach towns of the 1950's... Palm trees, beautiful sandy beaches, bicycles, quaint hamburger stands, locally brewed beer, ice ceam, an old-fashioned candy store, and art community. Called "The World's Safest Beach," Carpinteria is also the center of a large agricultural area where flowers, orchids, avocados, berries, lemons, etc. are grown. Part of the Carpinteria bluffs is preserved as a rookery for California Harbor Seals which can be seen with their young from December through May. www.carpinteriacoast.com/seal_rookery

We are 12 miles from Santa Barbara which has excellent museums, restaurants, wine tasting, movie theaters and live theater as well. With its Spanish tile roofs, beautiful court house, historic Mission, Santa Barbara is known as the American Riviera. 80 miles south is Los Angeles, and less than an hour to the north is the superb wine country in the Santa Ynez Valley, lavender farms, miniature ponies, an ostrich farm and the Danish community, Solvang.

Carpinteria and Santa Barbara have miles of bike paths, hiking trails in the local foothills, and beautiful golf courses.
