Every October, around 70,000 persons visit Lights in Alingsås, northern Europe’s largest event for experimental lighting of public places.
Alingsås is known for Jonas Alströmer who is said to have introduced and popularized the potato in Sweden. Alingsås is sometimes called "Potato City ', and every year, during a week in June, it celebrated with a potato festival.
