House in historical Tata, Hungary (Just 60km from Budapest)
We live in the beautiful small historical town of Tata. The house is located right by the well-known English ornamental garden and park (with its own lake) and is only a few hundred metres from the centre of the town, Old Lake, etc. The house was recently completed and is on two floors with 200m2 of space. It has four bedrooms (can accommodate up to 6 persons very comfortably - we also use one room as a music room with a piano), two bathrooms (one per floor), a living room, kitchen and games room. The living room has a fireplace and corner windows looking out on to the park. There is a terrace with a pergola and a pleasant garden for sitting out in.

As well as being a good base for visiting many of the best attractions in Hungary, Tata itself is a beautiful historical town, famous for its springs, mills and wild geese. Local attractions include the Zsigmond Castle, Eszterhazy Castle, English ornamental garden and lake, the Old Lake and many more. There are many excellent restaurants, cafés and bars in the town. An international standard golf course is located on the edge of town, whilst sailing is possible on the Old Lake, bathing, spa treatments at the spas in the town and horse riding is also available. The facilities of the Hungarian Olympic camp (a few hundred metres from our house) are also available - tennis, swimming pool, running track, etc. The town is very bicycle-friendly - even smaller children can safely visit the whole town by bike.
In the immediate area, it is possible to visit, among others, the vineyards of the local wine region, the fortresses in Komarom, and to go hiking, etc. in the nearby hills.
Within a 30 minute drive, there are the attractions of Esztergom (famous basilica, museums, Danube view, etc.), Győr (castle, Pannonhalma abbey), not forgetting Budapest itself (Castle District, Danube bridges, Opera House, Parliament, museums, theatres, shopping).
